On August 25, 2024, the municipalities of Allendorf (Lumda), Rabenau and Staufenberg invite you to the 22nd Car Free Sunday in the Lumda Valley! From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the roads will be closed to car traffic and opened for a colorful hustle and bustle without exhaust fumes and traffic noise.
Whether you are a cyclist, hiker, skater or simply a pleasure-seeker – there is something for everyone in the Lumdatal. Numerous highlights and attractions await visitors along the 11-kilometer car-free route. The local clubs provide entertainment and enjoyment with culinary offers, exciting activities and live music. Local bike dealers also offer a check-up for your own bike.
There is also plenty for families to discover: Bouncy castles, pony rides and vehicles from fire departments and farmers will make children’s hearts beat faster. The day before, a children’s street painting festival will take place in Brunnenstraße in Staufenberg, so that the street will be decorated with children’s colorful chalk paintings on Sunday – a special sight that will delight young and old alike.
Another highlight of the weekend is the 34th Michaelismarkt in Londorf. Here, visitors can expect numerous stalls and culinary specialties that perfectly complement the Car Free Sunday offerings. For the last time, art enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to admire the impressive works of local artists at the Rabenau Art Forum in the Bürgersaal at the old railroad station in Londorf.
As always, participation in the event is free of charge and offers various travel options. Visitors are welcome to take part on foot, by bike or by public transport. Sufficient parking spaces are available for motorists.
