Buseck
Wooded surroundings and hilly landscapes at the Wiesecktal
By public transport or via the R7, Buseck can be reached within a few minutes from Giessen, making it a perfect entry point for excursions by bike or on foot. Within a 10-minute walk from the train station is Buseck Castle and the castle park. Here once resided the lords of Nordeck zu Rabenau. The building, formerly built as a moated castle, probably dates from the 15th century and is now the seat of the municipal administration. In the associated castle chapel there is a registry office, which is available to couples from all over the region for their “big day”. Around the castle unfolds the castle park, designed as an “English landscape park”, where fountains and pavilions invite you to linger and lovingly laid out paths invite you to take leisurely walks. At the southern end of the park, the foundation walls of a former residential tower from the 14th century have been excavated. Today, the cultural center and an associated restaurant stand on this site, which welcomes you to your end of the day dinner. In the foyer of the cultural center you can see some excavation findings as well as a documentation of the excavations. A special highlight for the region is the annual event series “Musik im Park”, which invites visitors over several days to listen to the sounds of music of various musicians and artists in a very special atmosphere. An event for all ages.
