TAK Giessener Lahntäler as Pioneer

With the IDEENGARTEN, the Hessen Agency wants to create awareness for rural tourism as an important resource in Hessen. On the platform www.ideengarten-hessen.de it presents pioneers from Hesse, which bring with their ideas, experiences and achievements tourism in rural areas to grow.

The Tourist Working Group (TAK) Gießener Lahntäler has now been presented as a Hesse pioneer. A conversation with Kurt Hillgärtner (Chairman of the Association to LEADER Region GießenerLand):

The valleys of the Lahn, Lumda, Wieseck and Salzböde are still a magnet for a lively art and culture scene. There are also great hiking and biking trails and many sports and recreational opportunities.

What the six municipalities of the Giessener Lahntäler in our rural, economically rather weak region do not yet have, however, are sufficient tourist organization structures that then also market their treasures appropriately. Last year, we finally wanted to change that – and so we, the six municipalities of Allendorf (Lumda), Buseck, Lollar, Rabenau, Reiskirchen and Staufenberg, together with tourist organizations and providers, founded the Tourist Working Group (TAK) Gießener Lahntäler.

If we want to make the communities of the Giessener Lahntäler fit for the future, we need more economic power, more influx and more consumption.

This includes an increased expansion of tourist structures, because our capital is our beautiful landscape and the many cultural highlights. And it is precisely these advantages that we must market in such a way that people from all over Germany want to spend their vacations here. The entire rural region benefits from this, the gastronomy is strengthened, tourist businesses offer jobs, people discover the Giessener Lahntäler as attractive vacation and residential locations. A small municipality cannot achieve all of this on its own – it never can, because it needs financial and human resources and a lot of tourism know-how. This only works if municipalities join forces and network, and work and promote the area of tourism together in a coordinated and efficient manner.
