New in the Giessener Lahntäler: Paper Theater “Little Time Out”

Giessener Lahntäler recently added a new cultural offering. At the beginning of March, the paper theater “Kleine Auszeit” launched its first play “Kalif Storch”. For this the organizers Susanne and Stefan Schweig could inspire even prominent ones, which lent their voice to the figures (among other things Tobi Kämmerer – HR 3 and Tobis city trip, Henni Nachtsheim – bath salt, Alice Hoffmann – family Heinz Becker). The richly detailed settings and characters appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds. Adults are just as fascinated as children. While the children follow the events on the small stage in amazement, adults enjoy this unagitated form of theater, which allows them to enjoy the moment quietly and shielded from the hectic outside world for the duration of the performance. Truly a “little time out” from everyday life.

In Germany, the paper theater has a good 200-year tradition. Many decorations, figurine sheets and text booklets from the 19th century are still preserved today. Recently, paper theater has been included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
