A total of almost 40,000 people voted and placed the Lahnwanderweg in second place in the category of multi-day tours. Philipp Borchardt, Managing Director at the Lahntal Tourismus Verband e. V., is proud, “We were very pleased to be among the 10 hiking trails throughout Germany that were nominated by the expert jury in this category. The fact that the Lahnwanderweg then even achieved second place in the public vote is a great success.” Borchardt is certain, “Without the support of the people from the Lahn Valley and neighboring regions who voted for the Lahnwanderweg, this great result would not have been possible. This second place is therefore a win for the entire Lahn Valley.”

The Lahnwanderweg received 3,748 votes, which corresponds to a share of 17.94 percent. First place in the multi-day tours went to the VukaMaar trail in the Eifel. Third place went to the Murgleiter from the Black Forest. “The fact that so many people voted as never before shows that hiking is becoming increasingly popular. It also shows that the work that is put into good quality trails on site is worthwhile. Our thanks here go to the trail sponsors and municipalities who ensure that the Lahnwanderweg permanently offers a wonderful hiking experience,” Borchardt concluded.
